A PIECE OF MY HEART... slipping and sliding

We had a winter blast here in the past 24 hours. I know for some of you, 5 inches of snow doesn't really accumulate to much, but for us southern folks in dixieland, that is enough to shut down restaurants and schools. And it did!

In this kind of weather, it is important that we wear the proper kind of shoes outdoors. If you don't, you find out real quick how unsure your footing is. Without the proper footwear, you will slip and slide and probably fall down.

Not only is it important to wear the proper footwear in wintry weather, but it is also imperative to have the proper spiritual shoes on as well.

"Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace..." (Ephesians 6:14-15)

Paul is telling us that if we will wear the proper footwear, it will enable us to keep steady, especially when the devil comes around and tries to cause us to slip and slide and fall down. The footwear to the Roman soldier was so important. Think about it, it didn't matter how powerful the breastplate was or how tight his belt was, if the soldier slipped and fell, there wasn't much he could do.

There is nothing more the devil would like to see than you and I slipping and falling. He knows if he can knock us off of our feet, that it will only be a matter of time before we feel defeated. It is imperative that you check the shoes you put on daily, we must wear the proper footwear in order to stand against the wiles of the devil.

What kind of shoes are you wearing today?
