THANKFUL THURSDAY...is the wait worth it?

Time doesn't seem to be my friend these days. I know that each day we are given 24 hours, seems like it should be enough to accomplish everything that needs to get done. But truth be told, it just isn't.

I keep thinking that eventually time will slow down, and the calendar will not be as full and I will have more time to do the things that I want to do. But weeks go by, months go by and now even years have gone by and still I have not accomplished some of the things that I had hoped to.

TIME...it is such a precious thing. It seems like when I was younger, time couldn't come quick enough and now that I'm older, I can't slow it down enough. It is said that "good things are worth waiting for" and I have found this to be true.

To marinate the finest ribs ... it takes time.
To mix and bake the most mouth watering chocolate cake ... takes time.
To design and build a magnificient shopping center ... it takes lots of time.

Have you ever given any thought to the time it must take an ant to move a grain of sand? Well, first of all it takes more than time, it takes perseverence. It starts with the ant picking up the grain of sand and moving it, then it picks up another one, and another one - continuing with great anticipation and total determination until the city of sand is built. Sometimes taking a very, very long time.

Sometimes in our spiritual life, we want to hit the "forward" button and skip right to the good stuff. We tend to forget that just like that mouth watering chocolate cake...that in order to get to the good stuff, important steps must be taken and much like the ant building the sand city, we must wait patiently and in time our hard work will pay off.

Today, as I share my heart for THANKFUL THURSDAY, I would like to say how much I am thankful for the time that God has given me to work out the kinks, go thru the ups and downs, and persevere thru this journey I call life. I don't want to rush thru it, I may just miss out on the joys, the learning lessons and the blessings that God has in store for me.

ISAIAH 40:31 "But those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."

So slow down...and wait upon the Lord, for good things are truly worth waiting for!

LYNN is hosting this month and TT can be found HERE today!

i'm pretty well versed already with "it takes time" but to finally say "it's worth the wait", i still have yet to experience that. but i know my time is coming really soon. i trust Him that my life and my future is secured in His hands.

Laurie all of your posts are always so good, but this one was especially so! I don't know how you do it. Taking such ordinary everyday things and getting such a good anaolgy out of it. I have found myself recently REALLY looking for God's lessons in my day to day life. Which is really like listening more and more for Him when you think about it. Thank you sooo much for inspiring me to do this. "Time" anymore is such a conflicting thing for me. I HATE how quickly it goes when it comes to kids growing, things changing, and me growing older and older. And yet it just seems to CRAWL when it comes to time between Mel's visits, how long my husbands works days are and how long sometimes it takes me to get something done, haha...But your right, for the most part I do NOT want to rush through the time the Lord has blessed me with, missing His lessons and blessings. Have a wonderful day...Debbie

This is so true! There was a point when I thought that once my life returns to normal, then I can have time for the things I wanted to do. Until I realized that the hectic pace WAS my new 'normal' mode. When I accepted that, I discovered that God had increased my strength and capacity as a wife, mother, and woman, and I started to enjoy the new me that could (most of the time) keep up!

Oh Laurie,

You just really see life from the Lord's eyes. I loved reading this. It filled my soul and made me thankful for the many years of waiting I have done. It will all be worth it.

Love you girl. Happy TT and 2010! Hugs, Lynn

What a great analogy and beautifully written!

Wise words! Time is precious and God desires us to spend it wisely!

The only way to become more like the Son is to suffer...joyfully without complaining or disputing.

Blessings and grace,
Jill

Amen to that Laurie. Yes, the journey can sometimes be a little stressful, but we have a wonderful 'Guide' to get us through the rough spots.

Thank you for sharing your grateful heart with us this week.

Be blessed today and always...
