THANKFUL THURSDAY...our troops!

THANKFUL THURSDAY
....our troops

Today I am anxious because my son is coming home in 24 hours!

Jeremy has spent the past two years serving God in an awesome way as he serves our Country as an airman in the United States Air Force. This visit is sweet for me because there will only be one more time I will be able to see him, or touch him, or hug him or kiss him before he leaves for a one year term of duty in Korea.

Ever since my son got orders to go to Korea, I have heard one very familiar comment, "at least he isn't going to Iraq". I don't mean to step on toes here...but ....can I suggest that the LOCATION of duty does not mean less harm or less importance (or less heartache). When you have a loved one serving in the military, a piece of your heart goes to whatever piece of land they are protecting, whether it is here in the states or overseas somewhere.

With my son's homecoming fresh on my mind, I want to dedicate this weeks THANKFUL THURSDAY to all of the men and women who currently serve our country. How grateful I am, that they continue to defend what those who have served before them have fought for.

1. I AM THANKFUL FOR THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED AND WHO ARE CURRENTLY SERVING OUR COUNTRY!

2. I AM THANKFUL FOR THOSE WHO PROTECT US!

3. I AM THANKFUL FOR THOSE WHO SERVE OUR COUNTRY WITH PRIDE!

4. I AM THANKFUL FOR THE PEACE THAT OUR TROOPS ARE FIGHTING FOR!

5. I AM THANKFUL FOR THE SACRIFICE SO MANY MEN AND WOMEN MAKE FOR OUR FREEDOM!

6. I AM THANKFUL TO BE AN AMERICAN!

WHAT CAN WE DO?
- You can show support for our troops by praying for them daily. If you have family members or church members in the military...make a list and call their names out daily and pray for their families. They need support and prayer also!

-This summer support the "100,000 Bibles for our troops in 100 days" promotion. Tyndale Publishing is sponsoring a program to supply our troops with Bibles. Starting June 1st, you can purchase a Bible for $4.99 and send to our troops. ... CLICK HERE for more information on how you can participate.

-When you see someone in military uniform...tell them THANK YOU!

I hope that you take time to watch the slideshow I prepared (top of side bar). Sure hope you have enjoyed today's THANKFUL THURSDAY, for more thankful posts, visit the site of IRIS and check out other thankful hearts!

Blessings, Laurie

Happy TT to you Laurie,

Oh, I'm so excited for you!! One of my son's is in the army and spent a year in Afghanistan. I missed him so much and yes, worried too.

My nephew just got home from a 2 year duty in Korea.

I appreciate all the young men and women who serve our nation.

Take some pictures, and enjoy every single minute.

I didn't do a TT but I saw you on another page and when I read your blog I just wanted to tell you what a great, sweet and wonderful TT you did. A friend of my husband just got home from Iraq and we are so blessed he's home, but we also have a friend who's in Korea. He was there for 2 years, come home then last year they sent him back there for another 2 years. As much as we miss him we know he's proud to serve his country and we keep him and all of our soilders in our prayers. To your son....much love and thanks for protecting us here. May God bless and protect him always.

Laurie,

I was thinking about doing my Thankful Thursday on the same thing, and when I came here I felt like all I need to do for now is say "Amen!" I will place a link to yours if I get the chance to get mine written today. I have a lot going on right now and I'm not sure I'll get the blogging done until late...if at all. I am praying for you, understanding your excitement, and feeling your pain!!! Love, Laura

You are right, Laurie - no matter where our spouses/children my serve - there is always danger...
Thank you for the information about the Bible drive from Tyndale Publishing. I will make myself a note for June 1st.

Thank you so much for sharing your grateful heart with us and the reminder how much true freedom actually costs.

Blessings to you and your wonderful family - enjoy the time with your son.
