Everything matters to God!
Everything that we speak. Everything that we do and everything that we think. It all matters to God! When others may not see our heart, God always does. God never misses a moment of our life. God is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent. There is nothing that slips His view.
Keeping that in mind, I have to wonder why do we do the things that we do? What is our motive for acting the way we do or saying the things that we say.
Sometimes we speak before we should. Our motive could be anger or frustration.
Sometimes we act ungodly. Our motive could be jealousy or spiritual immaturity.
The enemy likes to put thoughts in our mind that we have a right to lash out. To even the score. And we fall for that lie and before we know it, our actions, our words and our thoughts have definite purpose. Except now our motive turns ungodly.
Whatever we do, whether it is with our words or our deeds, it should ALL be done under the authority of Jesus. Our conversations are vital to fulfilling the Great Commission. Our words should be lifting one another up, encouraging, exhorting one another not tearing down or judging. Our conduct is also of great importance to carry out the Great Commandment.
MATTHEW 22:37-39 "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind." (38) This is the first and great commandment. (39) And the second is like it: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
As you express love (or discord) with others, you also express it to God.
So what motivates you to do the things that you do? You either find fault with your brother or you put him first..are your motives pure?
Our motives are almost as important as what we do. We must speak and serve as a representative of Jesus Christ. We may be the only Jesus people see. Pour yourself into the lives of those seeking, mentor them, strengthen them and most importantly love them unconditionally. What you say and do will either draw people to Christ or repel them from Christ.
COLOSSIANS 3:17 "And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."
I can't think of any better way to give thanks to God for His love than to share His love with others with our words and our actions. Now that is a good motive that will propel us to fulfill the Great Commandment!
and this has been a piece of my heart;
More CALM, less fret ...

Laurie,
I just came across your blog and the word Passion struck me with a hearty amen! I just left a conference with Lisa Bevere and I am wondering where have all of you passionate women been when I thought there was no one out there with passion? The Lord is faithful to show me similar godly women made in His image full of dynamic passion and beauty. A blessing to meet you.!
