A measuring cup, a tape measure, a ruler, a speedometer, a pressure gauge and God ... what do these things have in common?
These are all standards of measurement!
Even God? Yes, just like a measuring cup or a ruler, God is also a standard of measurement. Depending upon what you want to measure will depend upon what you use to calculate the measurement. If you want to measure distance ~ you would use a ruler. If you want to measure the speed your car is going ~ a speedometer would be best. And if you want to measure if a action or thought is right or wrong - you should measure it against God's values.

Whenever you are in doubt if something is right or wrong ... compare it to God. He should be your spiritual measuring stick!

Amen sis.
Amen to this...keeping that spiritual measuring stick close by my side....
Laurie, YES! YES! YES! Thank you, sister in the Lord, for STANDING UP for God's word and Him being the ultimate authority! In this world of ours where right and wrong is measured by one's "rights" or feelings or opinions standing up for the ONLY measuring stick of right and wrong is so needed. And the amazing thing about this ultimate authority- it comes from The perfect God who wants to direct us with His perfect love, not just as a whole, but individually. He is a personal heavenly Father whose word was written to reach out to us, to show us His love and mercy and justice and forgiveness. In fact the "whole Bible is really a love story from God to His children." Now, that's an authority and measuring stick I can trust.....Blessings, Cate
