Having strong roots!

We have a very large oak tree in our front yard. It is very old, but yet it has withstood many strong winds, tornadoes and hail storms. Even though the winter cold hits hard, this tree has stood strong and each spring its leaves have been replenished and the spirit of this awesome tree shines thru in the brilliant colors of autumn leaves. Without strong roots, none of this would be possible.

"But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” - Jeremiah 17: 7-8 (NIV)

Jeremiah compared the strong, well-developed roots of a tree to a person who places trust in God. A tree shoots out roots to be able to withstand heat, wind, and even periods of drought. In the same way, the stronger our roots in God, the more we are able to deal with trials, change and disappointments.

Having strong roots planted with God is much like my strong and blooming tree. The Spirit of God shines thru us as we get planted in His Word and His Ways. It is our growing faith in Him that will sustain us in all our seasons of life. The storms of life can leave us feeling battered and bruised, but when our feet are planted firm in God...nothing can uproot us!

Make sure you are planted with strong roots!
