A picture is worth a thousand words!

Some say that a picture is worth a thousand words. Never have I considered that to be true until this past week.

Many of you who have followed me for any length of time have read about my reunion with my earthly father after a 40 year separation. I had 7 years with him until God took him Home with Him last year.

There are so many blank memories that I have of him during those lost years. But last week, my Aunt sent me some old pictures of my dad. Pictures of him when he was a baby, a child, and a young man. She also sent me some pictures of me as a baby that I have never seen.

(my dad as a baby)

Looking over these pictures was like putting that missing piece back into the puzzle. There are no words (not even a thousand) to express my emotions of seeing these pictures for the first time.

Isn't it interesting the story that an old photograph can reveal? Even when those in the picture are no longer here to tell the story, the picture is surely worth a thousand words!

And if that is true, then we can hardly even begin to calculate the value of the pictures of Jesus I see in my old testament Bible. Every picture that I see points to Jesus in some way...creation, the stable, Jesus teaching, the burning bush, the last supper, the crucifixion. Each picture whispers the name of  Jesus!

"And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He explained to them what was said in all the scriptures concerning Himself." Luke 24:29

These pictures are more than a thousand words to you and me...in fact, they are our words of life to us!

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, will not perish, but have everlasting life." -John 3:16

We can restore old pictures but if we think about it, old pictures can come alive, tell a story and restore us. There is restoration in the power of Jesus. Open up your Bible and let the pictures speak to you today!
