I don't know why, but him being ten minutes late seems like an eternity to me! I get very impatient waiting on him. I will call him and say, "Where are you?" and always he says that he is on the way and will be there shortly.
I wish I could be more patient. One thing I know is that I am so glad that God has more patience with us than what we muster up over a ten minute wait. God is infinitely gracious and patient and will wait for us to meet Him anytime, anyplace.
Isaiah 55:6 Seek the Lord while you can find Him. Call on Him now while He is near.
How often, I wonder, does God wait upon us? I wonder if He ever asks the question, "I'm here, but where are you?" May we be seeking Him daily, and continually have an attitude of praise. I would never intentionally make God wait, but yet that is what I am doing each time that I do not make Bible reading and prayer time a priority!
Often times, in our hour of need, we talk about our problems to everyone else except God. All the while, He waits patiently for us to come before Him with our needs. Instead of making Him last resort, it may be time to make Him first priority.
He should be the first One that we seek for answers to our physical problems, for help in our financial decisions, for counseling in our relationships, and for wisdom about career moves. He should be the One we give honor, glory and praise to for our financial blessings, for that promotion at work, and for the good report from the doctor. Unfortunately, it doesn't always go that way.
Even though we do not call upon Him first...He still waits for us. Ever so patiently. Today would be a good day to not keep Him waiting any longer, may we all take time to seek Him.
Amen, very true.
ReplyDeleteThis is so true. Years ago I started praying for patience. I had none that I know of. God has blessed me but I still pray for more. Wonderful devotional. Have a fabulous day :)
ReplyDeleteLaurie, I like each of your reminders in this post and the most recent one to hear God. I often find I'm so full in my head with music in the car, TV, my town thoughts, and now grabbing my computer instead of my Bible for a QT! We can miss the Holy Spirit calling us. Thank you for the reminder.
