THANKFUL THURSDAY...mud slinging

When it rains, and in the south it rains ALOT, the water does not drain properly in our front yard. Our driveway and front sidewalk seem to collect the water, and because our sidewalk is sloped, the rainwater drains into our yard which causes the grass to die. When we have several days of rain, our yard becomes nothing but a big mud pile.

Mud is nasty. When you step in mud, it gets on everything! If its on the bottom of your shoe, when you walk, it splatters up on your pant leg. When you walk into the house, the mud now becomes part of your carpet.

Not only is the mud in our yards difficult to clean up but so is the mud that our mouth and our actions seem to create. You know exactly what I am talking about. Mud slinging. Backstabbing. Gossip. Mean girls. Name calling. Call it what you want...it's all the same - dirty, filthy and a stench to God.

What can you do if you are a victim of mudslinging? Two things. First: ask God to raise you up. Second thing: as God raises you up, be better than the person slinging mud and don't retaliate.

"He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand." ~ Psalm 40:2 (NIV)

God sees everything. He hears everything. He is keeping a record. It is His power and grace that will clean up the slime that is left by those mudslinging people in our lives. He has His hand outstretched to pull us out of that mud and mire, His love and sacrifice is the cleansing power that makes all things new. And clean.

Today is THANKFUL THURSDAY and I am so grateful for His hand that is outstretched, offering me His cleansing power! What are you grateful for? Please share your grateful heart with us over at www.spirituallyunequalmarriage.com . Lynn is a gracious host this month.

  1. Great post. I was just reading yesterday Ephesians 4:29 "Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear."

Coincidence, don't think so. I don't believe there is such a thing anymore...more like divine intervention. This has me pondering what lesson am I missing and do I need to get?

    Thanks for a great post.
    Blessings,
    Cindy

  2. I love the verse in Psalm you referenced. I am so thankful He pulled me out of the yuck, cleaned me off and made me His own! I'll praise Him forever for that!
    Have a blessed day!
