"Oh be careful little ears, what you hear, for the Father up above, is looking down in love, so be careful little ears, what you hear. Oh be careful little eyes, what you see, for the Father up above, is looking down in love, so be careful little eyes, what you see."This song played and replayed in my head yesterday after I took a short drive thru our little town running my daily errands. As I drove down one of our streets, near many businesses, I noticed a parked car sitting along the side of the road. The reason it caught my eye, was because there was a small child hanging out the window of this parked car. As I got up closer to the car, the small child, probably about 5 or 6 years of age, was laughing and then putting up his middle finger as drivers passed by.
My heart was sad when I saw this. At 5 or 6 years of age, the only way a child knows to do this is if they saw someone else doing it.
Oh my...what has happened to the SALT that Matthew speaks about?
MATTHEW 5:13 "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men."
People watch us. The little eyes that watch us may be the young in age or the young in spirit. As Christians, we must watch what we say, what we do and how we act. What are others seeing in us? Do our actions lead people TO Christ or AWAY from Him?
Let's be careful what their little eyes see!
and this has been a piece of my heart today;
That IS sad. The kid probably doesn't even realize what they are doing.
ReplyDeleteI think of this song/verse often as well. I use it to help keep myself accountable - as well as helping me navigate my kids on the right path.
That is very heartbreaking. I agree with the Dionna,the child may not even realize what that means. That is even more sad.
ReplyDeleteI love that song by Casting Crowns! I am a huge believer in what our eyes and ears behold. That is just as important as what we say.
The old saying about actions speaking louder than words is so true...especially for the young...and unbelievers...
ReplyDeleteWise words sis, very wise.
