I remember this one time, my husband and I were eating at a local Chinese restaurant. We were enjoying our lunch, chatting with one another and from time to time we would wave to someone that we recognized from church or from the community.
After we were through eating, we waited and waited for the waitress to bring us our check. Finally, we asked her for it and she informed us that it had already been paid.
Someone had already paid for our lunch?
How could that be?
We quickly looked around to catch site of someone who might have done that ... but we didn't recognize anybody that we knew.
Why would someone do that? I stood a bit baffled and surprised at the generous kindness of someone. Something for nothing - Isn't God the only One Who does stuff like that? What a beautiful thing for someone to do, we left that restaurant feeling so blessed!
The next time I was out at that same restaurant, I recalled the undeserved kindness of that day and it was very easy for me to pick up the ticket of a friend that was also eating there. Blessings are undeserved, yet God showers us with them every single day.
PSALM 37:4 "Delight yourself also in the Lord, and
He shall give you the desires of your heart."
On this THANKFUL THURSDAY, I rejoice in the acts of kindness bestowed upon me daily and I wonder, "How can I pass such joy onto others today?"
"Be kind: everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."

Oh Laurie,
ReplyDeleteI love this post. I don't do this enough. But, the last time I picked up lunch for this young biker couple, my husband and daughter were with me.
It left a memory of goodness and kindness on their hearts. They won't forget it. Idon't think the couple will either. Happy TT.
Thank you for hosting. Hugs. Lynn

Thank you for the reminder. I know that random acts of kindness have greatly touched my life. I need to remember to reach out more to others in the same manner.
ReplyDeleteGod's love always surrounds us-through the people He send our way.

Hello Laurie, Glad to be back for TT! Thank you for hosting.
ReplyDeleteMay I add to your beautiful post, that offering does not please only the one who receives, but also the one who gives. Our children often remember the pleasure of the act and seek to repeat it. Please take a look at the prayer request I have posted at the end of my TT post. May God bless you.
WOW! How wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSometimes, it's something as simple as what you experienced to make you realize how truly good people are.
Happy Thankful Thursday!
