SIMPLICITY... now there's a word that you don't hear too much anymore these days. Everything that we do seems to cost alot of money, alot of energy and alot of time.
Right now, my husband and I are "de-cluttering" our house. You know getting rid of some things that we have hung onto for quite some time. It is amazing to me how much a room can change when you remove the clutter, strip it down to just the simple, basic neccessities.
Once in a while, in our lives that is what we need to do ... "de-clutter it!" We just need to get back to the basics of life, look beyond the clutter and clamor of this bewildering, complicated and evil world. Step back and just see what really matters. Some days we just have to take time, step outside and look upward! This is the basics of life ... His creation. So marvelous but yet simple.
Whenever you can de-clutter your mind of the things that bog you down and meditate upon God, you will be reminded that your primary purpose in living, the basic fundamental reason why the Lord created you is to worship Him!
Isn't it time we get back to the basics?
I am thankful that God really does make it simple to have a relationship with Him. Why on earth do we make it so hard? I know you have a grateful heart today, please write about it and link up with us here at THANKFUL THURSDAY by signing in below with Mr. Linky!
~I have enjoyed hosting this month...be sure to visit LYNN of Spiritually Unequal Marriage next week. She will be our host for the month of October!~

Laurie,
ReplyDeleteIt is good to get "back to the basics" sometimes, isn't it? I feel like God is getting me back to the basics of His Truth and Grace even as we speak. I am so thankful for His gentle, loving, guidance.
Hope you have a great week!
Karen
I couldn't agree more, Laurie! So good to get back to the basics and so necessary to keep our focus on God... it's hard to focus with a lot of clutter.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thankful Thursday!

What a great reminder! I've been in the process of getting rid of things since we have been moving... and it feels so great to de-clutter and simplfy everything in my life.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Thursday!
Thanks, Laurie, for sharing this encouraging post with us and precious reminder that the basic fundamental reason why the Lord created us is to worship Him! Often our lives are cluttered with various things and we lost sight of God's purposes for us here. I need this reminder today!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your thankful heart with us. Thanks again for hosting Thankful Thursday. It is so encouraging to read of how God is blessing different people in different ways daily. It helps me to be more thankful. Take care and have a blessed day!

Great theme this week, Laurie. And you approached it so beautifully. I'll give it some thought and come back Thursday morning with my simple thoughts.
ReplyDeleteHi Laurie...you are so right about the de-cluttering!!! We are on that same path...in our home as well as in our spiritual lives.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this...
Bless you!
Susan
Great post. I love simplicity. Less stuff...less burdens :). I just want to live simply for God!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I have done the same thing, getting rid of things that we didn't need anymore. It always makes me feel better to not have so many things around, especially if someone else can use them. Same way with our minds, there can be to much junk pile up there and we need to get rid of it to. We just need to remember to fill it back up with the things of God! Have a Blessed Day in the Lord!
ReplyDeleteThis is my first Thankful Thursday Hope I've done everything right! Thanks for letting me participate.

Enjoyed this theme and the wise words of advice...and I agree with your question of "Why on earth do we make it so hard?", when we only have to reach out for amazing grace and unending love....
ReplyDeleteI'm de-cluttering, too, in my closet Laurie! Just dropped off two bags of used clothing at the thrift store. Feels good!
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting and for choosing such fantastic themes. It is always refreshing to get back to the basics!
ReplyDeleteDear Laurie~
ReplyDeleteI do live in Memphis. I attend Bellevue Baptist Church where my husband and I are very active. We have raised up 2 darling sons, who are married and building their own households of faith.
I have taught a Bible study for MOMS for 20 years at Bellevue. I have been writing my own material for about 8 years. In 2006 I started publishing my studies and producing DVDs to accompany them. My studies are in about 34 churches in the States and 2 out of the States. I launched a ministry to facilitate my Bible studies and my speaking ministry.
Like you, I love to encourage women in the study of God's Word and the pursuit of Him. We launched an online study for moms today and we are anxious to see if we can reach more and more mommas online. I love what you and your buddies are doing to add a Christian voice to the blogosphere!! Blessings.
It's so easy to get caught up in everything around us. Thank you for the reminder to get "back to the basics"
ReplyDeleteWhen we clutter our minds and our lives there is no space left for God. But the evil one finds his way. We must make space for God. How true! Thank you for hosting. I enjoy the way TT helps me focus on the good. Thank you. Have ablessed rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteGood post, and how very true!
