Before there was refined sugar (which is needed to make all of those yummy things I just mentioned!), the sweetest taste that people could enjoy was HONEY!
It comes no surprise to me then that when the psalmist tried to describe how good the Word of God was, he thought of the greatest example of sweetness that people could recognize at that time ... honey!
PSALM 19:9,10 "The laws of the Lord are true; each one is fair. They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb."
The Psalmist was saying that the Word of God tastes like the sweetest thing he had ever known.
What kind of taste does reading and meditating upon the Word leave in your mouth? Is it a sweet taste or a sour one?
God intends for His Word to be an invigorating taste sensation ... a treat! It is my desire to have a spiritual sweet tooth so I can savor each and every delicacy of His Word! I am so thankful on this Thankful Thursday for each of you, my friends and for the sweet cravings of more of Him.

I've always loved that verse, too!! I love the comparison of honey to the word of God--so sweet to the taste. God's word just gives everything else so much FLAVOR!
ReplyDeleteHis sweet love has gotten me through many bitter times. Thank YOU!
ReplyDeleteThat's a fun theme! I had already started typing my TT post earlier this week of things I was thankful for each day so I didn't go with it this week.
ReplyDeleteHave a good day!
I wish my sweet tooth for God's Word DID match my cravings for cookies and chocolate. That is a neat way to look at it!
