THANKFUL THURSDAY..the mirror

WHAT DO YOU SEE WHEN
YOU LOOK IN THE MIRROR?

Lately, when I look in the mirror I see a few extra pounds in places they shouldn't be and a few different colors of hair that didn't use to be there.

When you see your reflection, do you see someone who is changing or just simply staying the same? In the Bible, we read about Moses, whose face changed dramatically.

EXODUS 24:29 "When Moses came down Mount Sinai carrying the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, he wasn't aware that his face had become radiant because he had spoken to the Lord."

Moses went up on Mount Sinai to be with God, and after he saw and experienced the glory of God on the mountain, the skin on his face literally glowed with God's glory. When he came down from the mountain, the glory began to fade with each passing day.

The glory does not have to fade for us, we have the Holy Spirit living inside of us, changing us. The Spirit of God is at work, making us into mirrors so that we can reflect the radiance and the beauty of God's glory.

Some of us don't want to change. On the outside, that is. Spiritually, we should not want to stay the same - God desires to change us, making us a better reflection of Him.

WHAT DOES YOUR MIRROR LOOK LIKE?

I hope you are thankful for the spiritual mirror that God has given us. IRIS is our host of THANKFUL THURSDAY, please visit her and her friends as they share their grateful hearts today. FIND IT HERE!

  3. Hi! Very good posting! I belong to a ladies Bible study that has a large number of women in their 70s & even 80s. I've learned so much about being a Christian by watching them. You are right..these wonderful faithful ladies glow... they reflect God's Spirit! The beauty of the Lord shines out of them. Although I'm one of a couple "babies" of the group, I used to be so concerned about how I looked. Now I'm yeilding to a better kind of beauty, one of the Spirit.
Thank you for sharing this truth!

  9. Laurie - I love how you wrote this post and give each of us something to think about.

I agree with Debra - as my birthday draws near - better to be thinking about my spiritual growth!

You are such a blessing to me!

  10. I've always liked the account of Moses' face shining. And I've always been puzzled why people have to debate the theological reasoning for WHY his face shined. What difference does it make really! He was with GOD - He shined. Period. GREAT simple lesson here.
    I avoid mirrors.

  12. Great post! I always thought it was a shame that Moses had to wear a veil over his face... to shine with the glory of God and have to cover it because it was too bright for those around him... Oh to shine with His glory so bright people can't look right at us!!!! Thank you for sharing.
