2 TIMOTHY 2:3,4 "Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. (4) No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier."
How interesting that Paul refers to following Christ much like a soldier.
The Greek Lexicon word for SOLDIER is "STRATIOTES".
STRATIOTES (strat-ee-o'-tace)
(noun masculine) ~An active, loyal, and militant follower.
Paul is saying in 2 Timothy that a soldier is self-less, he puts his commanding officer and other comrades first, thinking of himself last. In the army of God, we are soldiers that are active, loyal and following our leader...Jesus Christ.
WHAT KIND OF STRATIOTES (soldier) ARE YOU:
- are you active in God's army?
- are you loyal to Christ?
- would you follow Christ no matter what the cost?

STRATIOTES, now that's a word packed with sacrifice!
Laurie,
ReplyDeleteAwesome video. My son is 16 and last year told us that he feels the Lord is calling him to serve his country as a Marine.
We are being prayerful for him. My father served in the Navy and my husband's grandfather served.
We have the utmost respect for those who make this sacrifice.
Thank you for this post!! Blessings to you tonight.
Mom that was a very good blog. I'm so proud that I can call you my mother. I just wanted to wish you many more blogs and a very happy belated happy happy birthday!!!!!!!!!! I love you!!!
