This could be an average Saturday for most people. My friend Carmen had a typical Saturday last week just like this one that I described. Carmen, age 33 - a mother of two young sons, did not know that it would be her last Saturday.
Unexpectedly, my friend collapsed at home and after a week of tests and unanswered questions, God chose to take my friend home to be with Him. Her sudden death has caused me to remember all of the times I was able to talk with her and pray with her.
Carmen recently attended a Ladies Bible Study that I was teaching. She was so hungry for God's Word. I really enjoyed the TIME that I had with her; sharing and praying with each other! We continued with that relationship even after the study concluded. Carmen would text message me or call me on my cell phone when she wanted to talk about something or wanted someone to pray with. I am so thankful for the TIME that we had together talking, sharing and praying.
TIME...we all have 24 hours in a day. Nobody has more. Nobody has less. The time in a day is the same for all of us.
In ECCLESIASTES 3:1, it says there is "a time to be born and a time to die". There has been an appointed time for each of us to die. We don't know when that time will come for us, only God knows.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THE
TIME THAT GOD HAS GIVEN YOU?
and that's a piece of my heart today!
Please pray for Carmen's family during this time of loss. Pray for comfort for her parents, her sister, her two young sons and all of her extended family and dear friends who are grieving her loss.
Oh my goodness!!! That was powerful. I will be praying for your friend's family!
ReplyDeleteSo very sorry that you lost your friend so suddenly. I'll be praying for you and her family.
ReplyDeleteWhat a powerful message you sent to me this morning. Thank you!
Very humbling. Time....
ReplyDeletePlease know I am praying for your friend and her family, and for you, Laurie.
It is a shame that we have to lose someone that we know and love to remind us of how fragile life is and that we are not guaranteed another moment on this earth. It makes me hold my children tighter and longer, say "I love you" more and tell those that I love as my family and as my friends..."how much I appreciate them". Carmen will be missed by so many who knew and loved her.
ReplyDeleteLaurie, let me take time to tell you how much I love and appreciate you and your friendship. You are truly a treasure that I have found in my life. I love you!
Awwww Laurie...I'm so sorry for the loss of your special praying friend Carmen! I pray the Holy Conforter will be there with the family and all their heavy decisions and time of grief!
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard when we are happy for Carmen's homecoming though so unexpected and rejoice how we also know the reality of the immense grief for all that will miss her!
I pray that God wraps His arms around you and that as you feel strength that you can be Jesus to them. That indeed is a great mission and ministry as Isaiah 61
calls us to do...even when we are hurting if we are open vessels, God will pour through us! This was inspiring and powerful but a very, heavy story and makes us guard our hearts and watch our time! Hope I'll see you on Monday, it's ours not mine!
